THE IMPORTANCE OF REPLACING MISSING TEETH

As our patients age, it’s not uncommon for them to suffer tooth loss. While this is not unusual, it can have a dramatic effect on patients’ ability to chew, eat, and ultimately maintain proper nutrition. Many of our elderly patients look forward to meal times each day, and we want them to enjoy their food to the fullest. A full set of teeth makes maintaining a regular diet easier and keeps patients from less desirable modes of nutrition intake such as only eating soft foods or pureed food due to missing teeth.

WHAT ARE DENTURES?

A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and adjacent tissues. It is made of acrylic resin or vinyl, sometimes in combination with various metals. Complete dentures replace all the teeth, while a partial denture fills in the spaces created by missing teeth and prevents other teeth from changing position.

Impressions are taken using the same high quality materials as in a fixed office. We have the option of pouring the impression on-site or transporting it to our lab specializing in dentures. All appointments are done on-site and easily performed by our treating dentist. It typically requires 3-5 visits for a denture to be completed. All follow-up and adjustments are done on-site until the patients is comfortable and satisfied.

DENTURE CLEANING

Dentures can be cleaned on-site using a portable ultrasonic cleaning machine and specialized denture cleaning solution. The solution in water cleans tartar and debris using high powered ultrasonic vibrations.

Common Questions

Dentures, which have also been called false teeth, are removable artificial teeth replacements for missing teeth. Complete dentures would replace every tooth a patient has, while partial dentures would fill in spots for missing teeth.

Our team can help you get dentures. Our staff can pour the impression on-site or send it to our lab. Regardless, it typically takes between three to five appointments for patients to be satisfied with the new dentures.

Our patients have the option to receive an on-site denture cleaning with our portable ultrasonic cleaning machine. Our staff uses a specialized denture cleaning solution, which cleans tartar and debris along with ultrasonic vibrations.
